Damage and claims
How a damage claim is opened, what evidence is needed, who pays the deductible, and how long each side has to respond.
A claim is opened against a specific trip, and it is judged against the protection plan version that was in force on the day the trip was booked — not whatever the plan says today. That version is stored on the booking, so changing a plan later cannot change the terms of a trip already taken.
Opening a claim. Either side can open one from the trip. It is given a reference in the form CLM-XXXXXXXX; quote it in any message about the claim. Include photographs from before and after the trip, and say what happened and when.
Who pays what. The plan sets a deductible per incident and a liability limit, both per island and both shown on the listing before booking. The plan places the deductible on the host; protection covers eligible damage above it, up to the limit.
Reimbursements. A host can request a specific amount from a guest — for fuel, cleaning, a toll, or a late return. The guest has 72 hours to accept or dispute it. If they do nothing, it is accepted automatically at the end of that window, so respond even if you intend to dispute.
Disputes. A disputed reimbursement or claim goes to Ayonko staff for review. Both sides are asked for evidence. The decision and the reason for it are recorded on the trip.
No insurance partner is contracted in any market yet. Until one is, claims are administered by Ayonko against the plan terms, and no third-party underwriting applies. LEGAL REVIEW REQUIRED.
